We have been raving about the woman Anjola for a while because it is indeed worth the hype. Rita Dominic plays a sultry duplicitous bar singer who lures men in for reasons she doesn’t immediately make apparent. A neo-noir film by Mildred Okwo, La Femme Anjola is available in theatres now!

2. Pieces of a Woman

The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby gives an Oscar-worthy performance playing a grief-stricken woman who tragically loses her child during a home birth. It is an emotionally complex and heartbreaking film about how loss distances you from the good thing in life. If you’re in the mood for tears, Pieces of a Woman is now available on Netflix.

3. Promising Young Woman

This 2020 black comedy thriller is the story of a woman (Carey Mulligan) who tries to avenge her friend who has been raped by seeking out and punishing everyone who denied her justice. The film earned five nominations at the 93rd Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress for Mulligan. It was named one of the ten best films of 2020 by the National Board of Review, with Mulligan also winning Best Actress, and received four nominations at the 78th Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture – Drama. 4. Raya and the Last Dragon

This Disney animated movie follows a warrior named Raya (Kelly Marie Tran) who is in search of the last dragon to stop the monsters threatening her land. Raya and the Last Dragon has been a welcome production considering the racial violence Asians are currently facing in America. It is available for streaming on Disney+.

5. Who’s the Boss

Sharon Ooja reprises her role as the soft pretty girl in this heartwarming work flick/rom-com. Ooja plays Liah, an overworked millennial with an oppressive boss (Funke Akindele) who is thrust into the spotlight when her friends Jumoke (Ini Dima-Okojie) and Lekan (Blossom Chukwujekwu) help her start her own ad agency and start pitching to companies.
