Ghanaian actress Nadia Buari has issued a strong public alert to her fans and followers about the growing threat of online impersonation following WhatsApp’s rollout of its new username feature.

In a candid Instagram post, the popular star revealed her attempt to secure a username on the messaging platform disappointed her.

The actress noted that every variation she tried—including “Nadia Buari,” “Nadia S Buari,” “NSB,” and “theNadiaBuari” had already been claimed.

Ugh, why are people like this???… It’s exhausting and honestly kind of scary,” Buari wrote. “At this point, it’s clear fraudsters and imposters are lurking everywhere, ready to snatch up anything just to mislead people. Please, be careful out there and stay vigilant.”

Her warning comes after WhatsApp introduced username features, designed to enhance user privacy by reducing the need to share phone numbers.

Experts recommend verifying contacts through video calls, avoiding unsolicited financial requests, and enabling two-step verification on WhatsApp.
