Afolayan releases official poster for Netflix’s ‘Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre’
The official poster for Kunle Afolayan’s Netflix series Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre has been released.
Afolayan shared them on his Instagram earlier today. The series is a spin-off of the original Netflix film, Anikulapo.
The image shows Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, Sola Sobowale, Ogogo Taiwo Hassan, and Eyiyemi Afolayan as returning cast members for this project. It also shows newcomers Lateef Adedimeji, Uzee Usman, Gabriel Afolayan, and Owo Ogunde.
The series will be released later this year as a four-part Netflix original following the success of the first film in 2022.
The film follows Saro (played by Remi), who arrived in Oyo as a stranger and traditional textile weaver. Saro and Queen Arolake (played by Ademoye) are involved in a forbidden romance because she is the king’s unhappy wife. The two flee, and Saro quickly rises to prominence after being saved from certain death by a mysterious bird. Saro’s betrayal tears the lovers apart. It ends with Arolake disappearing after destroying his source of power.

Adebayo Salami, Layi Wasabi, Moji Afolayan, Aisha Lawal, Ronke Oshodi, Jide Kosoko, Adeniyi Johnson, and Funky Mallam.
KAP Motion Pictures, in collaboration with Golden Effects Pictures, produced Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre, which boasts an impressive cast and crew of over 600. It completed principal photography in July 2023.
