Nigerian filmmaker, actor and television personality Aniebiet Francis has spoken out on the importance of consent in relationships, stressing that no woman should be pressured into sexual activity against her wishes, including within marriage.
In a post shared on Facebook, Francis argued that marriage does not remove a woman’s right to make decisions about her own body.

She maintained that a husband should not force intimacy on his wife when she is unwilling or introduce new sexual experiences without her consent and approval.

She wrote: “As a woman, any sex you do not like constitutes sex slavery. When you are emotionally, intellectually, and financially empowered, you will have the audacity to choose when you want to have sex and how your body should be treated throughout it.”
“Even your husband shouldn’t force sex on you when you are not up for it or try new things with your body without your consent and approval.”
The filmmaker described situations where women are expected to endure unwanted or unpleasant sexual encounters as a form of “slavery”, insisting that mutual respect and consent should remain central to every relationship.

Francis, known for producing short films that explore social issues and human experiences, has built a reputation for using her work to spark conversations about important societal matters.
