Banky W Condemns D’banj For Intimidating Rape Accuser
Popular singer and actor, Bankole Wellington aka Banky W, has condemned embattled singer Dapo Oyebanjo aka D’banj, for intimidating his rape accuser, Seyitan Babatayo.
Recall that some weeks ago, Babatayo called out D’banj on social media and accused him of rape. After over a week of silence, D’banj responded, saying the rape allegation was false and an embarrassment to his wife.
Following D’banj’s response, the accuser later recanted her statement on social media, as she surprisingly started promoting the singer’s songs. Hours later, her lawyers came out in her defence; saying Babatayo did so under duress. D’banj allegedly forced her to delete the tweets in which she made the accusation.
Reacting to the development, Banky W said D’banj should have filed a defamation of character suit if he was not guilty; as he expressed hope that the singer will denounce the intimidation.
The Wedding Party actor wrote; “The news lately has been so hard to read. But we must never support the oppressing or silencing of victims by the Police. If D’banj truly was being falsely accused, then a ‘defamation of character’ lawsuit was the right move. But that’s where it should have stopped.
