Beyoncé covers Harper’s Bazaar, talks her career, new music, turning 40, and more

Beyoncé, 28-time Grammy winner and all round musical superstar is the cover star for the icon issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

In an interview with the magazine, the mother of three reflected on her incredible career that began over 20 years ago. She also discussed how she had to be careful throughout her time in the industry as she knew she couldn’t mess it up being a young black woman.

“I felt as a young Black woman that I couldn’t mess up,” she said. “felt the pressure from the outside and their eyes watching for me to trip or fail. I couldn’t let my family down after all the sacrifices they made for me and the girls”. Earlier in her career, Beyoncé was a part of the legendary all-girl group, Destiny’s Child along with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Both of which she still refers to as her best friends.

I knew I was given this amazing opportunity and felt like I had one shot. I refused to mess it up, but I had to give up a lot.”

During this rare interview, Beyoncé also shared a little about her family life with husband, Jay Z.

The couple have three kids, 9-year-old Blue Ivy, and 4-year-old twins Rumi and Sir. According to Beyoncé, the kids are the inspiration behind her adding kids’ clothes to her fashion brand, Ivy Park.

She also spoke on what she called one of her ‘most satisfying moments as a mom’. “One of my most satisfying moments as a mom is when I found Blue one day soaking in the bath with her eyes closed, using blends I created and taking time for herself to decompress and be at peace”.
