Bill Gates credits daughter for introducing him to Burna Boy, Rema

Bill Gates, the renowned founder of Microsoft and philanthropist, recently shared an interesting anecdote during his visit to Nigeria.

While addressing a gathering of Civil Society organizations and the media, Gates mentioned how his daughter expressed excitement about him visiting Nigeria to see Burna Boy and Rema.

However, Gates admitted that he wasn’t familiar with either artist, but he fondly recalled seeing Davido and Wizkid perform during his previous visits to Nigeria.

When my daughter Phoebe heard I was coming to Nigeria, she said, "You're lucky because you get to see Burna Boy and Rema, so I had to look them up…because I'm so 'hip'.

But I remember the last time I was here, I got to see Davido & Wizkid perform.

Gates’ statement sparked a debate on social media, as it coincided with Davido’s recent comment referring to Burna Boy as a “New Cat” in the industry.

Nigerians on Twitter expressed differing opinions, with some agreeing with Davido’s categorization, while others pointed out that Burna Boy had been active in the industry since 2013 with his hit song ‘Like To Party’.
