Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has expressed her thoughts on the Nigeria movie industry on how it is no longer being driven by passion.
Bimbo Akintola also condemned the growing focus on physical appearance, body enhancement, surgeries, over dedication to the craft.
Speaking further, she stated that actors in the early days, were hungry to tell stories and motivated by passion, citing that this is not the same for rising stars, as they are more concerned with outward looks.

Bimbo reflected on her early years in Nollywood industry, with her colleagues like Joke Silva and Sola Sobowale, on how they worked overnight, passionately, without pay and prioritising the art above all else, she went on to say, the industry then was about storytelling and realism.

She stated “Now people are saying, ‘My makeup isn’t for this, I can’t wear this. ‘ Is that what film is about? We are more concerned about our outfits and how we look. This is why, generally, there is a spark in BBL. It is now about looks and not content or what one has. Looks will fade no matter what you do”.
