Blackbird Books Seeks Budding African Women Writers for Its New Residency Program

Blackbird Books is seeking young African women who are starting their careers as writers, for its new residency program in South Africa.

Blackbird Books, an imprint of Jacana Media is seeking young African women who are starting their careers as writers, for its new residency program in Pretoria, South Africa.

Blackbirds Books, established in 2015 is headed by Thabiso Mahlape. Since its inception, it has published quite a number of books by new and existing black writers.

In conjunction with Casa Lorde and Eunice Ngogodo Our Own voices Initiative, Blackbird Books has set up this writer’s residency to help build and establish young African women who are starting their careers as writers.

The residency which would last for 4 weeks, is open to writers of all literary genres; poetry, prose (fiction and nonfiction), essay, amongst others.
