Nigerian Afrobeats artistes Burna Boy and Rema make Pitchfork’s 100 Best Songs of 2019. Their songs fall under a collection of songs that fans worldwide collectively adored.

Rema made number 72 on the list with his mega-hit Ozedikus-produced song “Dumebi“. Alphonse Pierre says this about the song: “Dumebi” feels both traditional and new.

Undoubtedly, this is an amazing feat for 19-year-old Rema, who is relatively very young and new to the Nigerian music industry. Fader called him the future of Nigerian music. Indeed, it seems like he is.

Anyone who knows music knows that it has been a Burna Boy year. The Grammy nominee was in the top 50 as “Anybody” made number 48 on Pitchfork’s top 100 list.

Burna Boy received international acclaim for his Afro-fusion album “African Giant”. As of November, the album had bagged over 70 million streams across multiple platforms.

Along with this astonishing achievement, Burna Boy got to collaborate with foreign artiste including industry powerhouse Beyonce on her “Lion King: The Gift” album.
