Cardi B’s Grammy Win Is Slowly Turning into Another Nicki Minaj Beef

BY IKENNA OBIOHA
Call her the underdog and you won’t be totally wrong. Cardi B’s meteoric rise to fame and to top of music charts has been nothing but awe inspiring to many hip hip hopefuls. Last night, the Bodak Yellow star won her first Grammy in the Best Rap Album category for her debut effort Invasion of Privacy. She nabbed five nominations at this year’s Grammy and secured the win in Best Rap Album, becoming the first solo female to do so after Lauryn Hill won in that category in 1997 alongside The Fugees.
Following her win, the star gained support and unbridled praise from the likes of Lil Kim, Remy Ma and Nicki Minaj’s one time beau Safaree.

As expected, all three who congratulated Cardi B had some feathers ruffled between them and Minaj. And this is also something they share with the star who last year charged at Minaj at the Harper’s Bazaar throwing a red bottom shoe at her.
Apparently, not everyone is happy about this feat achieved by Cardiovascular B. Some music fans are outraged by her win basing it it on the fact that she employs and encourages the use of ghostwriters. They also pointed out that talented rappers like J. Cole and Snoop Dogg, Foxy Brown have never won a Grammy, hence the win fails to validate her talent in an industry that shuns ghostwriting. The win also saw the birth of memes mocking Minaj’s tout as best female rapper in the game from hip hop fans.
Here are some reactions from twitter:
