Popular Nigerian rapper CDQ has made a stunning revelation about his past encounter with Afrobeats star Davido.
In a recent interview with The Echo Room, CDQ disclosed that Davido had once offered him a recording deal, but he turned it down. The offer came after CDQ’s breakthrough single “Indomie” gained massive success, catching Davido’s attention.

According to CDQ, Davido reached out to him on Twitter, expressing his desire to sign him to his record label. Davido’s intention was to invest in CDQ’s talent and make him the biggest rapper in Africa, following his lucrative African tour. However, CDQ informed Davido that his producer, Masterkraft, had to be involved in any potential deal.
In his words: “Davido reached out to me through Twitter back then that he wanted to sign me. He told me he just made a lot of money from his African tour and wanted to invest it in money and make me the biggest rapper in Africa. I told him whatever I’m doing, Masterkraft has to be involved.”
A meeting was subsequently arranged between CDQ, Masterkraft, and Davido. During the meeting, Masterkraft suggested a partnership instead of a recording deal, citing CDQ’s growing popularity on the streets. Masterkraft believed that a partnership would be more beneficial for CDQ’s career, but Davido declined the proposal. As a result, the deal fell through, and CDQ continued on his own path.
“So, me and Masterkraft went to a meeting with him, and he told him that CDQ is already a movement on the streets and should consider a partnership instead of a recording deal but Davido decline and the deal fell through.”
