Media personality and entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo has opened up about staying single at 41.
In a recent BBC News Pidgin interview, he revealed he came very close to marriage in his twenties, even planning pre-introduction ceremonies on two occasions, but is now grateful those relationships did not work out.
“When I was about twenty-something years old, I almost got married, but thank God that I did not. I almost did a pre-introduction; I was ready on two separate occasions.”

The host of WithChude, admitted he was once desperate to wed, largely due to feelings of loneliness despite his professional success. However, as he grew and discovered more about himself, he realised he was not emotionally or mentally ready for the responsibilities of marriage at that time. Marrying around age 25, he believes, would have led to regret.
“If I had gotten married at that time when I was 25, I would have regretted it because even as I was discovering myself, I realised that there were certain things you needed to do in a marriage that I was not in that state of mind.”
Now, at 41, he says he simply has no desire for marriage and refuses to follow societal expectations. “I am not ready to get married,” he stated, adding that if he ever does tie the knot, it will be done privately with no public announcement.
