The trial of Jude Okoye, former manager of the now-defunct music group P-Square, was delayed yesterday at the Federal High Court in Lagos because Peter (Mr P), who was supposed to be cross-examined by the defence, was absent.
Jude and his company were brought to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on seven charges. Jude has denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty.

At the hearing yesterday, which was meant for the cross-examination of the complainant Peter Okoye, prosecutor G. Akaogu told the court that the witness had called to say he could not attend because his flight from Abuja to Lagos was rescheduled.
“The witness called and told me that his flight from Abuja was rescheduled; that was why he could not make it to court. I also informed the learned Silk about this development this morning,” the prosecutor said.

He then asked the court to set a new date.

However, the defendant’s lawyer, Clement Onwuewunor, SAN, confirmed he had been told about the situation but denied that the witness’s flight had been rescheduled.
Onwuewunor told the court that a reliable source informed him Peter was in Lagos as of Wednesday evening.
“The prosecutor told me about this when I was at Falomo, near the court. I was upset because I was supposed to be in Akure, Ondo State, for another case.
“In fact, I was just told that the witness did not travel, he is in Lagos and I do not know why the prosecutor said his flight was rescheduled,” Onwuewunor said.
Justice Owoeye has postponed the case to September 21, 2026, for further hearing.
