A Delta State court on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, firmly rejected the bail application filed by lawyers representing popular content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, better known as Odogwu Asaba.
The ruling keeps him in custody at the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre pending the continuation of his trial.
The case stems from the alleged rape and subsequent death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro. Favour had travelled to Asaba in June 2026 after Ogbonna reportedly invited her for content-creation training.
She later accused him of assault, recorded a video detailing her ordeal, and died after ingesting a toxic substance. Police arrested Ogbonna in July following a formal petition. He was formally remanded on September 4 after autopsy and toxicology results were submitted to investigators.

According to Awele Ideal, the lawyer representing Favour’s family on a pro bono basis, Ogbonna’s legal team filed the bail application about three weeks ago. Her office filed a prompt response. The application was argued in court today, and the judge “vehemently” refused to grant bail.
Ideal reaffirmed her commitment, stating she continues to provide both legal services and financial support so that “no stone is left unturned.” She promised ongoing public updates, closing with the legal maxim “Fiat justitia ruat caelum”; let justice be done though the heavens fall.
Ogbonna remains remanded and will be brought to court as proceedings advance under the Ministry of Justice. The case continues to draw significant public attention.
