Afrobeats star Davido has placed Nigerian politicians under renewed pressure to account for how they acquired their wealth, following a detailed public explanation by former Anambra State governor Peter Obi.
The conversation began when television host Rufai Oseni shared a clip of the Nigerian Democratic Congress 2027 Presidential Candidate discussing his business career before politics.

In the interview, Obi outlined his work as a trader, his role as sole importer of brands such as Heinz salad cream and products from South African Breweries, and his significant shareholdings in banks where he also served on boards.

He stated that entering politics ultimately made him poorer, though he expressed no regret about public service.
Davido after catching sight of the clip, responded directly on social media with the short but cutting remark, “None of them can try it.”

The reply quickly went viral but took an opposite direction as some online users and critics have pushed back against Davido’s remark.
They argued that his challenge also applies to his own uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
They claim the singer’s comment implies that even close family members in politics would struggle to match Peter Obi’s level of openness about the sources of their wealth.
