Award-winning Nigerian singer Davido and human rights activist Omoyele Sowore have traded sharp words on social media after Sowore’s critical remarks about Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle.

The exchange began when Sowore, speaking in a recent interview ahead of the Osun governorship election, described the governor as “brainless” and said he had “nothing upstairs.”

He also labelled Osogbo, the state capital, a “war zone” over its infrastructure challenges.

Davido shared a clip of the interview on X and labelled Sowore an “Arindin.”

Sowore hit back, insisting the description better fitted Adeleke. He pointed to the governor’s decision to obtain the equivalent of a GED after serving as a senator and criticised his support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.

Sowore accused the Adeleke family of treating Osun State as a “private estate” to fund an extravagant lifestyle, branding them “oppressive, corrupt, incompetent, and entitled.”

In a direct reply to Davido, Sowore wrote that the real “arindin” was his uncle and accused the family of feeding off Nigerians’ suffering. He warned that “the tables will turn” and that citizens would not endure such conditions forever.
