Dremo, a popular Nigerian rapper and songwriter who was previously signed to Davido’s record label, DMW, has explained why he left the label.

Speaking in a recent podcast with Echooroom, Dremo talked about his experience with his former record label.

When asked if he planned to sign with any label, he said, “I don’t feel like signing anything right now. I just feel like they will just give you money to hold you down.”

Asked if that was his experience with DMW, he explained, “They didn’t give me money. It was all work and more like a platform.”

On whether he got what he expected from the label, he admitted, “Of course not.”

This is coming after Liya, a former DMW signee, explained why she decided to leave the record label.

Speaking during an interview on the show Wahala with Josy Anne, the singer disclosed that her time at the label came with emotional challenges that significantly affected her wellbeing.

According to her, the period was marked by depression, exhaustion and health struggles, which ultimately pushed her to make the difficult decision to step away.

“Why did I leave? I just wanted more for myself, as a person and as an artist.

“It was sad, it was depressing, I was tired, I was sick, but it was a decision that I had to make for myself,” Liya said.

Liya gained recognition after signing to DMW in 2020 and releasing songs such as “Melo,” “Adua,” and “Lakiriboto.”
