Don Jazzy Calls For End Of Rape Culture
MAVIN Records boss, Michael Ajereh, aka Don Jazzy, has called for the end of rape culture in a Twitter post.
Reacting to the death of 22-year-old Uwavera Omozuwa, the 100-level student of UNIBEN, who was raped and murdered in a church in Edo state, the renowned record producer slammed rapists, rape apologists and those protecting them.
Don Jazzy’s tweet read; “If you are a rapist and you see this, you should be ashamed of yourself and know that one day you will pay for your barbaric crimes. Rape apologists too and those that know a rapist and is protecting them. SHAME ON YOU. #saynotorape #JusticeforUwa #JusticeforTina #WeAreTired”
In view of recent happenings, it is common knowledge that rape culture is pervasive in the country. While the contexts may differ, it is however pertinent to understand that rape culture is always rooted in patriarchal beliefs, power, and control.
