Doris Chima, Nigerian actress, dies after battle with cancer

Doris Chima, Nigerian actress has passed away after her battle with cancer.

Emeka Rising Ibe, Chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Lagos chapter, who confirmed the sad news in a chat with The Nation, described the late actress’s death as a great loss to everyone in the industry.

He said “She called me last week and pleaded due to ill health not to remove her from the verification exercise I embarked on to ascertain true members of the guild in Lagos.

“Yesterday morning, I got a call that she was dead. Though I am yet to visit the family, it is a great loss for us. I pray for the repose of her soul.”

During her lifetime, Doris Chima was a foundation member of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and former vice chairperson of Lagos AGN.

Chima, it was gathered, had breast cancer with the affected breast cut off in 2020 after she was diagnosed to prevent further damage.

Doris Chima’s death comes few days after Rich Oganiru, Nigerian actor, passed away.

The actor reportedly died on August 10 after months of battling with sickness.

EmstarVee, the actor’s friend, broke the news of his death in a Facebook post.

EmstarVee wrote “BREAKING……..Sunset At Noon, Tuesday 10th August 2021! Ahem… I’ve lost a good friend like a brother for years, a great Nollywood actor par excellence. I’m just speechless. R.I.P Amb. Rich Oganiru.”
