BBNaija star Phyna has publicly supported fellow ex-housemate Tochi’s advice urging former contestants facing tough times to abandon the “I am a celebrity” mindset and focus on hard work.
In a post reacting to Tochi’s message, Phyna said she had long questioned the popular belief that Big Brother Naija stars should simply wear the celebrity title and wait for brand deals.
Phyna noted that many people now judge a BBN star’s success mainly by the number of deals they secure, while also assuming that appearing on the show means one no longer needs to hustle.
Phyna criticised the culture of inflated deal announcements. She pointed out that some popular brands may offer around ₦5 million yet encourage stars to publicise far higher figures. After management takes its cut; often 25 percent, the actual earnings leave little in the pocket, she said, leaving only bragging rights and empty titles.

She described the growing “classism” around brand deals as something that has taken root in people’s minds, while insisting that reality remains different.
Phyna’s comments add to ongoing conversations about the financial pressures many reality TV stars face after the cameras stop rolling and the initial wave of attention fades.
