Nigerian entertainer and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz TheBahdGuy, took to the streets on June 12, joining protesters in Lagos to demand urgent government action against rising insecurity and the abduction of schoolchildren.

Speaking amid demonstrators holding signs reading “END INSECURITY & KIDNAPPING,” Falz voiced widespread frustration: “What’s going on in this country? Schools are still open while students are being kidnapped. This must stop.”

His father, prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana, also participated in the Democracy Day protest.

The demonstration is sparked by recent abductions in Oyo State’s Ogbomosho area, where armed groups seized dozens of pupils, students, and teachers.

Many remain missing, fueling anger as schools continue operating amid the threats. Protesters shared similar incidents across states, criticising authorities for inadequate responses and calling for stronger security measures, rescues, and accountability.

Organised by civil society groups, the protest forms part of broader nationwide calls against insecurity and economic hardship. Falz and fellow activists urged citizens to pressure lawmakers and push for tangible solutions to protect vulnerable children and restore safety.
