Falz Seeks Continuity of #EndSARS Protest
Rapper and activist, Falz has sought the continuity of the protest against police brutality in Nigeria dubbed #EndSARS.
While sympathising with the families of those who have lost their lives during the agitation, the music star who has been actively involved in the #EndSARS protest, noted that it’s important that justice is served.
According to him, the protest has gone too far to be stopped.
He noted: “We must keep up the energy. We have to complete what we have started. It’s quite some work but as long as we stay committed to it, that change we want to see will definitely happen. I am charged up!!!! Really pleased to see this spirit that we have built. Now that we have come this far, we cannot stop!! However, it is important to be smarter and more strategic with the movement.
“We have all the tools we need at our disposal so let’s get to work! To the brave ones we lost, we are so sorry Nigeria failed you. We will not let you down! We will not relent until justice is served!! God bless your souls.”
About three days ago, Falz however disclosed why he’s not afraid of losing his life, even in the #EndSARS protest.
Speaking with British-Iranian journalist, Christiane Amanpour, on CNN, the This Is Nigeria lyricist said death doesn’t scare him because nothing guarantees him a long-life as a youth in Nigeria.
“I’m not afraid for my life. I’m not I’m not afraid for my life because where we are right now, I feel like I could easily die by anything else anyway.
“I don’t even know what to start from. We have non-existent healthcare for example, we have a seriously high level of poverty, there is unemployment. We are in a critical State because of much corruption and mismanagement of funds we continue to see on a daily basis.
“So if I don’t come out to complain about the state of things, I can sit down or have an accident on my way to work, or something and die as a result of the country’s enormous challenges.
“Healthcare is nothing to write home about in Nigeria. Our hospital is not well equipped, such that people have to travel abroad to get proper healthcare. So what kind of Life am I leaving? Anyway, why should I be afraid of dying? I’m gonna die anyway, so what’s the point,” he told Amanpour.
