The family of veteran Nollywood actor Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has released details of the remaining programmes to complete his burial rites.
Hassan, a towering figure in Yoruba-language cinema, died on Sunday, 23 August 2026, at the age of 66 after a battle with stage-four cancer.
He was laid to rest the following day in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, according to Islamic rites.
Family members, colleagues including Yinka Quadri and Jide Kosoko, and fans gathered to pay their final respects.

In a statement shared on social media, the family outlined two key events. The Eighth-Day Fidau Prayer will take place on Monday, 31 August 2026, in Ilaro.
Relatives and well-wishers are invited to attend in large numbers to offer collective prayers for the peaceful repose of the late actor and to seek Al-Jannah Firdaus for him.
This will be followed by a special 40-Day Artistes’ Day in Honour of Ogogo, scheduled to hold at the Pavilion Hall, Ilaro, forty days after his burial.
The event, coordinated by the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), will feature performances by actors, musicians, comedians, singers and other entertainers.
It aims to celebrate Hassan’s decades-long contributions to the industry, where he was celebrated for memorable roles and his enduring presence on screen.
The family expressed gratitude to fans, colleagues and supporters who turned out for the burial and appealed for continued prayers. Hassan’s legacy as a versatile actor, screenwriter and producer continues to resonate across Nollywood.
