Nigerian Afrobeats singer Godstiny Azula A.K.A Fave has called for greater unity among female artistes in the country’s music industry, urging women in the scene to develop stronger relationships and support one another.

The singer made the appeal while reflecting on the relationship between female artistes and the need for greater collaboration and solidarity within the industry.

Fave, who has gained recognition for her distinctive vocals and songs that have resonated with Afrobeats listeners, noted that male artistes appear to have developed a closer bond with one another.

According to the 26-year-old artiste, she would love to see female musicians cultivate a similar sense of community where they can openly support, encourage and uplift one another.

She said: “I wish the female Afrobeats artists would build a close-knit relationship like the male artistes so we can all uplift each other.”

The interviewer asked if she has relationships with other female artistes.

Fave responded: “Yes, Yemi Alade is my friend, Cold is also my friend”.

Over the years, Nigerian female artistes have continued to make significant strides both locally and internationally.

However, discussions about competition, limited opportunities and the need for greater representation have remained common within the industry.

Fave’s call comes at a time when female voices are becoming increasingly prominent in Afrobeats, with artistes collaborating across different sounds and reaching audiences beyond Nigeria.
