Fela’s daughter dismisses father’s comparison to Wizkid and Davido

One of the daughters of late Afrobeat Legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Motunrayo, has fired back at people who keep comparing her late dad to Wizkid and Davido.

The music promoter and entertainment enthusiast recently shared a photo of her dad on her Instagram page, in the photo, Fela is seen on the cover of Vogue magazine in 1961, solid proof that the legend was already making waves just a year after Nigeria gained its independence.

Though the influence of Davido, Wizkid and many other Nigerian artistes can not be undermined, with their solid moves paving way for them on the international scene, one might even want to call them representations of a modern day Fela. However, the position of the afro-beat pioneer remains unshaken.

However, Motunrayo would not have people compare her dad’s successes to that of Wizkid and Davido. To buttress her point, she showed off a young Fela looking good, while blowing a saxophone on the 1961 cover of the phenomenal Vogue magazine and went on to state that the comparison was wrong and baseless, these new artistes and her father being worlds apart. Here is what she said: “FELA ANIKULAPO KUTI FOR #VOGUEMAGAZINE OCTOBER 1961 a year after your failed nation got dependent.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 For the morons that compares him to Davido and Wizkid and any other Nigerian artiste.. If una let me ABUSE una you will say she has taken drugs again. Where sense is given sense is expected. Make una no vex me o. Morons. Where are these blogs when I need them. I am in the mood today.  Awon werey without money you are nothing. Fools!!!!!”
