From Nollywood to the US Army: Joseph Momodu Graduates Basic Training (PHOTOS)

Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has reached a remarkable milestone after successfully graduating from the United States Army Basic Combat Training, marking a major transition from the entertainment industry to military service.

Momodu, who is widely recognised for his role in Netflix’s The Black Book and the forthcoming film The Covenant, completed the demanding 10-week training programme at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Reflecting on his journey, the actor revealed that the experience pushed him beyond his limits. He spoke about enduring exhaustion, training in heavy rain and overcoming moments of self-doubt before eventually earning his place among the graduating soldiers.

One of Momodu’s early achievements was passing the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) examination on his first attempt, a key requirement for enlistment in the U.S. Army.

Momodu officially enlisted in the United States Army on 12 April 2026 and now serves as a Specialist with the 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment.

Celebrating the achievement, the actor expressed gratitude to God for guiding him through the demanding training.

He also dedicated the milestone to the memory of his father, who passed away 20 years ago, describing the accomplishment as a tribute to his late father’s legacy and unwavering influence on his life.

Momodu further acknowledged the support of his royal family in Edo State, Nigeria, thanking them for their encouragement throughout his journey into military service.
