Embattled Nollywood star, Funke Akindele has been convicted for violating the ongoing coronavirus lockdown in Lagos alongside her husband, JJC Skillz.
Thus, a Magistrate court sitting in Ogba area of Lagos, sentenced fined the filmmaker and her husband N100,000 each; as stipulated by the state Infectious Disease (Emergency Prevention) Regulation 2020.
Delivering judgment on Monday, April 6, after the couple pleaded guilty, Magistrate Y.O. Aje-Afunwa held that the convicts must serve two weeks community services; adding that they must visit 10 important places in Lagos to educate people on the need to comply with the lockdown order.
While mandating the couple to provide the names and phone numbers of their house party guests within 24 hours; the magistrate admonished them to be law-abiding citizens of Lagos.
As earlier reported, Lagos Police Command bowed to pressure, after Nigerians called for Akindele’s arrest.
The actress, fondly referred to as Jenifa, came under criticism, following the house party she recently threw to celebrate her husband’s 43rd birthday.
Quite a number of notable individuals graced the birthday party, including Eniola Badmus and Naira Marley.
Many Twitter users took to the micro-blogging site to slam Jenifa; who had been campaigning for social distancing as Nigeria battles to quickly curtail the infectious coronavirus.
