Games of Thrones Author, George R.R Martins Refused to Appear in the TV Series

Lovers of Game of Thrones, the author of our favourite HBO series, George R.R Martins, is never going to make an appearance on the show despite been offered a cameo countless times.

David Denioff and D.B Weiss offered Martins an opportunity to do a cameo in the final episodes of the show’s eight season but the author in true scholarly fashion declined. He was tempted but he didn’t see the use of travelling a notable distance for a cameo.

He shared this in an interview with EW, where he said: “Benioff and Weiss invited me to a cameo in one of the final episodes, which I was tempted to do, but I didn’t think just for the sake of a cameo I could take the time to return to Belfast.”

Martins has already made it known when he wrote in a LiveJournal blog post that he was going to cut back on his major commitments to conventions and other literary projects so that he could focus all his attention on the sixth installment of “A Song of Ice and Fire”, “The Winds of Winter”.

We know what this kind of focus implies – intense drama and twisted plots for our viewing pleasure!
Although there had been several offers for Martins to appear in a cameo, he did shoot one but it was reshot. He stated this at the 2013 Emmys webcast; he said: “They cut my cameo. I was left on the cutting room floor”.
He has been working on the last installment for this Game of Thrones series, “The Winds of Winter”, since 2011. The show’s eight and final season will begin to air on April 14,
