‘Empire’ actor, Bryshere Gray pleads guilty to domestic violence
Bryshere Gray who played Hakeem Lyon on the hit drama series “Empire,” might be going to jail. Gray is said to have been sentenced to prison for domestic violence.
Gray pleaded guilty to a felony and aggravated assault in his federal domestic abuse case. He is required to spend time in prison. According to reports, Gray will be in jail for ten days. After which he must now serve three years of probation and participate in a domestic violence offender treatment program.
He was also ordered to pay his wife Candice Jimdar restitution. This will be followed by him participating in a domestic abuse offender recovery program, and submitting to drug and alcohol tests.
Gray will also be prohibited from possessing any firearms and will need written consent from a probation officer. He will need to do this before interacting with someone who has a criminal record.
On July 13, 2020, the 27-year-old Philadelphia native was arrested at his home in Goodyear, Arizona, near Phoenix. It was shortly after the final episode of the Lee Daniels-produced series aired. Aggravated battery, domestic abuse, and disorderly conduct were all charges against Gray.
Gray headed to jail for domestic violence
Officers responded to a 911 call from a resident who had been flagged down by a Jimdar at a local gas station, according to authorities. Her husband, whom she described as Gray, allegedly assaulted her for “several hours.”
According to the police department, Jimdar was treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital. The statement also said: “After she was discharged from the hospital, Goodyear Detectives and the Victim’s Advocate continued to support her.”
When officers arrived at Gray’s house, he declined to come out and meet with them, prompting SWAT and Crisis Negotiations teams to arrive. Gray finally surrendered and was taken into custody at Maricopa County Jail after a nine-hour standoff.
After finding messages from other women on Gray’s computer, Jimdar questioned him, according to investigators. She said he called them fakes before going after her.
Gray allegedly “said he was going to kill her,” punched her over 100 times, choked her, and threatened her with a knife. He also defended himself in a bizarre two-hour police interview that was uploaded to YouTube in February.
