David Ogbueli, Senior Pastor of Dominion City Church in Lagos, has spoken about sexual responsibility in marriage, opening up about how he once used herbal remedies to help fulfill his marital duties.
Ogbueli while speaking during a marriage seminar organised by the church, which was later shared on YouTube shared a personal story about a friend whose father, from Northern Nigeria, had several wives.
According to the clergyman, the said friend often talked to him about herbs that were believed to improve sexual performance.
He noted that the day he decided to make enquires about the herbs, the said friend expressed surprised.
The prominent pastor explained that he set limits for himself when it came to his health and physical abilities, as he encouraged men to take practical steps, such as using herbs or medical help if needed, to meet their wives’ needs.
He further noted that these actions should be viewed as a responsibility, not as something taboo.
He stressed that marriage as a union is meant to offer companionship and connection, adding that not meeting a partner’s needs could break the marital agreement.
The pastor also warned that neglecting marital duties could affect prayers, saying that husbands and wives are “joint heirs of the grace of life.
He said: “I have a friend, his dad is from the North, aged over hundred. He still has young wives and he handles them very well.
“Whenever we are around, he will be giving me some advice about some herbs that they take. The North is blessed with some things that they take.
“I said, ‘Sir, respectfully, I’m not interested.
“But when I hit 50, I went back and said, ‘What is that thing you were telling me about?
“He said, ‘Pastor, are you the one asking?.”
Ogbueli said he made it clear that his interest was centred on fulfilling his marital responsibility.
He continued, “I said, ‘Forget that thing oh, pastor no reach here oh. Because you have to make madam happy. You have to do your job.
“The only one I’ve decided is that nobody will kill me. Second, third, fourth, fifth, no, forget it. I’m not in my 18 anymore.
“Are we supposed to talk about this kind of thing in church or we should just keep quiet?
He urged couples to prioritise their families, adding, “Take care of each other and take care of your family.”
