As Easter festivities gathered momentum, beaches along the Okun Ajah axis in Lagos State witnessed a surge of fun-seekers, families, and spiritual enthusiasts trooping in for relaxation, nightlife, sports, and moments of reflection.

According to reports,  several beaches in the area on Monday, the coastal corridor has become a hub of social and recreational activities.

Popular resorts, including Atican Beach, Barracuda Beach, Redline Leisure Beach, Santa Cruz Beach, Avista Beach and White Deck Beach, attracted hundreds of visitors.

Many fun seekers were seen swimming, playing beach volleyball, horse riding, jet skiing and engaging in lively dance sessions organised by beachside DJs and event promoters.

According to resort operators, the Easter break has become one of the busiest periods on beaches in the Okun Ajah corridor, as residents of Lagos often seek relaxation outside the city’s hectic environment.

At Atican Beach, families gathered around the swimming pool area while children played in the sand, and adults relaxed under colourful umbrellas overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Mrs Adeola Ogunlana, a mother of three who visited the beach with her family, said the atmosphere provided the perfect opportunity for bonding and relaxation during the Easter holiday.

According to Ogunlana, the beach environment allows parents to unwind while children enjoy recreational facilities designed to keep them active and entertained throughout the day.

“The kids love the swimming pool and the beach games, and as a parent I am happy they are enjoying themselves while we also relax and create beautiful family memories,” she said.

At Barracuda Beach Resort, groups of young professionals and corporate organisations were observed participating in organised team-building activities and sports competitions on the sand.

Mr Alex Eze, an organiser coordinating a corporate retreat at the resort, said beaches provide an ideal setting for companies seeking relaxation while strengthening teamwork among members of staff.

According to Eze, the combination of sports, ocean views and leisure facilities makes the beach environment perfect for networking, professional bonding and informal engagement among colleagues.

At Redline Leisure Beach, couples and groups of friends were seen enjoying private cabanas, beachfront dinning and quiet conversations away from the bustling city atmosphere.

A visitor, Adele Adeyinka, who came with her partner, described the beach as a romantic escape offering privacy and scenic ocean views.

Meanwhile, Santa Cruz Beach witnessed a unique blend of recreation and spirituality as some Christian groups organised Easter reflection sessions and sunrise prayers near the shoreline.

Pastor Johnson Ojo, who led a small Easter retreat service at the beach, said the season symbolises renewal and spiritual rebirth for Christians around the world.

Beyond relaxation and reflection, many young visitors also used the opportunity to socialise and connect with new friends from across Lagos and beyond.

A student, Tanya Okafor, said she came to Avista Beach to relax, read and enjoy the sunshine after a demanding academic semester.
