“I did not ruin Marilyn Monroe’s dress” – Kim Kardashian

American media personality, Kim Kardashian has clarified that she did not ruin Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress, which she wore to the 2022 Met Gala in May.

This is coming after rumours broke out that she had ruined the dress.

Kardashian was one of the most talked about celebrities at the 2022 Met Gala. She got many fans and fellow celebrities upset. This is after disclosing that she had gone through an extreme weight-loss so she could fit into the dress as it could not be altered.

A few weeks after the event, a Marilyn Monroe collector, Scott Fortner, claimed that the dress suffered
permanent damage.

Fortner, who works to authenticate and verify Monroe memorabilia, shared some photographs via his Instagram page. This is to show what appeared to be a stretched fabric and some missing crystals on the back of the dress.

The dress was worn by the late legend Marilyn Monroe. When she sang for President John F Kennedy on his 45th birthday.

Rebutting the claims, Kardashian stated during an interview with TODAY Show which aired on Tuesday. She says she wore the dress for a total of four minutes, after which it was carefully taken off her by handlers. She stated,

“I showed up to the red carpet in a robe and slippers, and I put the dress on, on the bottom of the carpet, then went up the stairs. I probably had it on for a total of three minutes, four minutes. Then I changed at the top of the stairs”. (Sic)

Kardashian’s claim aligns with the statement released by the owner of the dress, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! on Thursday. The statement revealed that the clothes already had notable damage prior to Kim wearing it.
