Nollywood actress Maureen Solomon-Okereke has opened up about her decision to step away from acting at the peak of her career to focus on raising her children.
The mother of three in a candid interview on Channels Television’s Rubbin’ Minds, expressed zero regrets about prioritising family over fame.
Maureen rose to prominence in the early 2000s with memorable roles alongside stars like Ramsey Nouah and Nkem Owoh. However, balancing demanding film schedules with motherhood proved challenging.

After her second child, she made the tough call to pause her career. “I had to stop… give my time to them,” she explained, noting that her values and upbringing influenced her choice to avoid long absences from home.

Reflecting on the sacrifice, Okereke highlighted the rewards of being present. Her older children are now 20 and 19, and she sees a clear difference when parents are hands-on. Drawing from her mother’s experience as a banker who later resigned to be more available, Maureen emphasised the lasting impact of quality time.
Now with a 7-year-old and her older kids grown, she feels ready to return to Nollywood. She treasures her past work but embraces the industry’s changes without pressure.
