Cynthia Obi-Uchendu, wife of renowned media personality and Big Brother Naija host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, has spoken out boldly about facing criticism over her personal style.
In a recent candid interview on the podcast Beyond with Ezinne, Obi-Uchendu addressed the ongoing comments about her dressing, which many tie directly to her marriage to one of Nigeria’s most stylish celebrities.
She explained that people often expect her to dress or act a certain way due to her husband’s high-profile status as host of Big Brother Naija and other major shows.

“People complain about my dressing because am married to Ebuka,” she said. She firmly added, “I will not change myself because am married to Ebuka.”
However, Obi-Uchendu emphasised her preference for authenticity over trends, saying she has “never cared to be a fashion girl” and values comfort, grace, and self-awareness above societal labels.
The couple tied the knot in a glamorous ceremony in 2016, starting with their traditional wedding on October 3, 2015, followed by the white wedding on February 6, 2016, in Abuja, an event that captured national attention.
They recently marked their 10th wedding anniversary in February 2026 with a romantic surprise re-proposal from Ebuka in Rome and Vatican City.
As a mother of two daughters, Cynthia also talked about how she overcame online scrutiny, motherhood, and the calm confidence that comes from knowing her identity. She described how marriage in the public eye brings expectations, but she chooses to live on her own terms, soft yet strong, simple yet deep.
