Afrobeats superstar Davido on Tuesday declared that his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election in Osun State, stands as a powerful example for leaders across Nigeria.
Speaking to journalists at his country home after the August 15 poll, the singer said the victory proved that genuine service to the people yields electoral reward.
“My uncle should be an example to all other governors out there. It shows that if you work for the people, the people will be with you and God,” Davido stated.
He described the contest as more than a battle, calling it a “war” in which Adeleke faced 17 governors, about 50 senators and many House of Representatives members, yet still emerged victorious. “God is good,” he added.

Davido reserved special praise for Osun voters, saying their determination to protect their votes from polling units to collation centres moved him to tears. “I can’t remember how many times I cried that day because the love was massive,” he recalled, while thanking residents for resisting alleged intimidation and vote-buying.
Looking ahead, the chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund announced plans to prioritise youth development. These include completing the state stadium, building a recreation centre with football pitches, swimming pools and basketball courts, and establishing a concert venue before the December inauguration.
