Nollywood actor and filmmaker Daniel Etim Effiong has strongly defended his on-screen kissing scenes.
The actor insisted that the true measure of any action lies in a person’s intentions and the condition of their heart, not the act itself.
Speaking on Tolu Afilaka’s Sound Mind Podcast, Effiong addressed critics who often question how a married Christian actor can perform intimate scenes.
He turned the conversation on its head with a striking comparison.
“Would you ask this same question to a gynaecologist? Do you know who a gynaecologist is? Of course, a guy is a doctor, a medical doctor that saves lives and works with women and looks at the female genitals every day,” he said.</p>
Effiong argued that the nature of an action does not automatically make it good or evil. Drawing from the Bible, he emphasised that what comes from the heart carries more weight than what is seen externally.

Even a simple look or handshake, he noted, can be used for harmful purposes and may prove more damaging than a scripted kiss.</p>
“There’s a condition of a man’s heart that judges what he does, that qualifies what he does, that makes it good or evil.”
“It’s not what you see from the outside; it’s what the man is, the condition of his heart,” he stated.
The actor has previously faced online backlash over romantic roles, particularly after viral kissing scenes. He maintains that professionalism, faith, and pure intentions guide his work.
