Kanye West claims Donda was released without his approval

On Sunday, August 29, Donda, the tenth studio album from Kanye West was finally released.

The album was initially set for July 24, but was delayed indefinitely. Between July and August, Donda was delayed multiple times. Kanye also setting up a provisional recording studio at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, where two listening events were held. Furthermore, a third listening event was held in Chicago on August 27.

Donda was finally released on Sunday morning as fans rushed to get into what Kanye had been working on.

Hours after the album went live, Kanye took to Instagram as he claimed that the album was released by the label without his permission.

“Universal put my album out without my approval and they blocked ‘Jail 2’ from being on the album.”

The 27-song album sees Kanye discuss his late mother (whom the album is named after), mental health and criminal justice.

Jail Pt. 2, the song Kanye refers to in the post wasn’t on the album when it was originally released. However, the song has now been added to the album.

The song features DaBaby, who has come under fire for homophobic comments he made recently. There’s been a lot of controversy around the song over the past few days. As well as DaBaby, it also features Marilyn Manson, who has been accused of sexual assault by several women. Both Manson and DaBaby joined Kanye West on stage at the most recent “Donda” listening event.
