Lupita Nyongo splits from boyfriend after one year together
Lupita Nyong’o, the actress known for her role in Black Panther, has ended her relationship with her boyfriend, Selema Masekela.
They were together only for a year.
Nyong’o shared this news of her breakup on her Instagram account.
Despite acknowledging the more significant global issues, she felt it was important to inform her followers about her separation from the musician.
She wrote:
“There are much more important things going on in the world right now, and my thoughts are with those who are deeply suffering. At this moment, it is necessary for me to share a personal truth and publicly dissociate myself from someone I can no longer trust…,”
In a heartfelt post, Lupita Nyong’o shared that she had been open about her emotions She expressed her pain and sorrow following the breakup.
She mentioned how she considered keeping a low profile until she felt better. But instead, she chose to confront her pain and be genuine with everyone.
Her intention was to offer inspiration to anyone else experiencing a difficult breakup.
Her post read in part,
“I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception. I am tempted to run into the shadows and hide. And return to the light when I have regained my strength. Strong enough for me to say, “Whatever, my life is better this way.” But I am reminded that the magnitude of the pain I am feeling is equal to the measure of my capacity for love. And so, I am choosing to face the pain. Cultivating the courage to meet my life exactly as it is, and trusting that this too shall pass… “
Lupita Nyong’o publicly confirmed her relationship with Selema Masekela in December 2022 with a post on Instagram.
She captioned it, “We just click! #thisismylove.” Masekela shared a similar post, captioning it, “Hearts are synched. My whole and actual love @lupitanyongo.”
However, Masekela had been captivated by the actress long before their public announcement.
In a hypothetical scenario mentioned back in 2016, he revealed that he was seated behind her on a plane and didn’t know how to start a conversation.
He tweeted, “Hypothetically speaking of course…Let’s say you’re seated behind Lupita Nyong’o on an airplane, what would be your opening line?”
Evidently, he eventually found the right words to engage her in conversation and begin their relationship.
Unfortunately, their love story had a short-lived chapter.
