Radio Stations Ban Michael Jackson Songs Amid “Leaving Neverland” Documentary Backlash

Following the release of the 4-hours documentary on HBO, “Leaving Neverland” which contained disturbing allegations of child sexual abuse against the late pop icon, radio stations around the world have banned airplay of Michael Jackson.

The stations include dozens in Canada, New Zealand and the public broadcaster, RNZ.

“Leaving Neverland” is a documentary that chronicles allegations from two men who claim to have been groomed and abused sexually by Michael Jackson when they were children.

In the film; the two men, James Safechuck and Wade Robson, who worked as boys with Jackson spoke about how their relationship with the singer has grown through the course of many years and they claimed that Jackson had repeatedly initiated sexual interactions with them and other boys. The allegations ranged from the singer sleeping in the same beg with the boys to staging a fake wedding ceremony with James Safechuck, one of the men.

Although Michael Jackson faced similar allegations of misconduct before his death in 20019, his estate has come nevertheless to criticize “Leaving Neverland” as an outrageous and pathetic attempt to exploit and cash in on Michael Jackson.

The “Leaving Neverland” documentary aired this Sunday on HBO.
