“Please, women, stop giving men money. No circumstance justifies even giving a man one pea. If a man asks you for money, say me Mide Oni told you there’s no circumstance that will justify me giving you one pea.”
She further added addressing the men, “Go and work cause your mates are working. Do they have two heads? Don’t come to ask me for money.”

Reacting to people who believe relationships should involve financial support from both partners, she said:
“And you know, when I said this before, there’ll be men in the comments that say, but why should I not be able to ask the women that I’m dating for money? Is it not give and take? Is it not a relationship? Should we not be able to help each other? Sorry, damsel. Sorry, damsel in distress.”
She further urged men to focus on working hard like others around them rather than relying on women for financial assistance.
Following her statement, Nigerian reality star, Tega Dominic took to the comment section of a popular Nigerian news blog to counter Oni’s point of view.
The reality star said, “But he should give you Abi? Y’all should stop this shii. As long as he is a giver, why won’t you come through for him in times of need? This is not a pick me situation, dem no fit pick me cause I weeked gan, but if that man is a giver, return the energy, if he is treats you well or better than himself, return the damn energy… y’all be doing too much.”
