My Experience Working With Simi — Ebenezer Obey

Legendary juju musician, Ebenezer Fabiyi, popularly known as Ebenezer Obey has shared his experience while working with Nigerian vocalist Simi.

The Duduke crooner recently had a collaboration with the veteran singer nicknamed the “Chief Commander” to record a remix of his popular song Aimasiko.

In a recent chat with Punch, Ebenezer Obey applauded Simi for her talent and said that he enjoyed working with her.

“Simi is my daughter and her husband is my son as well. She is a very talented artiste. She happened to have done (a remix) of one of my songs, Aimasiko, on her own. But, she took permission before doing it and it came out very well. So, we decided to do a version of the song together,” he said.

“She is a wonderful artiste and cool-headed person. She is very humble and knows what she is doing. Working with her was a good experience. She and her husband are true musicians.”

The 78year-old singer, began his professional career in the mid-1950s after moving to Lagos and under the tutelage of late Fatai Rolling-Dollar’s band.

He later formed a band called the International Brothers in 1964, playing highlife-juju fusion, the band later metamorphosed into Inter-Reformers in the early 70s.
