Netflix announces official release date for ‘Madam Koi Koi’

The captivating tale of The Origin: Madam Koi Koi is set to make its Netflix debut on October 31, 2023.

This debunked earlier reports that it would first head to Nigerian cinemas.

The Origin: Madam Koi Koi is a two-part film that delves into the eerie myth of a deceased woman’s spirit, also known as Madam Koi Koi.

She is believed to haunt the halls of Nigerian boarding schools.

This mysterious and spine-tingling legend has been passed down through generations in the Nigerian secondary school system.

The film was written by Jay Franklyn Jituboh and Dale Falola. It tells the story of a vengeful dark spirit that awakens after being forgotten for decades.

The community must now face the ultimate price as this malevolent entity seeks retribution.

Puzzled by a series of deaths in the town, two inspectors, played by Deyemi Okanlawon and Baaj Adebule, embark on a quest for answers and find themselves entangled in a web of drama.

“The Origin” unfolds between multiple timelines, spanning 1971 to 1991.

Directed by Jituboh and co-produced by Jituboh and Michael W. Ndiomu, the cast includes Ireti Doyle as the school administrator, Chioma Akpotha as a Catholic nun, Chukwuka Jude, Martha Ehinome, Nene Aliemeke, Tolulope Odebunmi, Omowunmi Dada, Ejiro Onojaife, Chuks Joseph, Kevin T. Solomon, Temidayo Akinboro, Iremide Adeoye, and Racheal Emem Issac.
