Popular Nigerian skitmaker and streamer Shank Comics has come under fire from netizens after boldly claiming that veteran comedians Bovi Ugboma and Basketmouth are wealthier than top Afrobeats musicians, including Asake, Wizkid, and Burna Boy.
During a recent live streaming session, Shank argued that comedy generates more substantial and sustainable income than music. “I feel like comedy money is more. I can swear to God, Bovi, Basketmouth, they’re f+cking richer than Asake,” he declared.
He further stated, “Bovi and Basketmouth are richer than Asake and Wizkid, but they don’t just like cars. All those Ferrari and rubbish Burna Boy is buying, Bovi doesn’t focus on that.”
Shank emphasised that comedians prioritise investments and modest lifestyles over flashy purchases like luxury vehicles.

Many fans mocked Shank for what they called an outrageous comparison, pointing to the massive earnings and global tours of musicians. Reactions flooded social media:
One user wrote, “Even Bovi self go Dey disappointed with this mumu yarn.”
Another user said, “Money wey Asake make only for 2025 go beat Bovi full net worth, leave Basketmouth own for 2026.”
Dismissing it as attention-seeking, one user said: “He is a comedian, yes and na why he dey talk this thing. Na una e dey pain.”
