Nicki Minaj to Get Docu-series on HBO Max

Nicki Minaj is getting her own documentary series on HBO Max! The upcoming six-episode series will be directed by longtime Minaj collaborator and Emmy-nominee Michael John Warren; who was also behind the 2004 Jay-Z film Fade to Black.

HBO Max is yet to announce a release date and a title for the series, but each episode will be a half-hour. Minaj is serving as an executive producer.

Last week marked the 10th anniversary of her studio debut Pink Friday. In a Twitter post announcing the show, Minaj, who recently became a mother; said that it would give fans a “raw, unfiltered look” at her life and journey through the music industry.

HBO Max Head of Original Content Sarah Aubrey followed up Minaj’s reveal with an official statement. Aubrey noted, “Nicki Minaj is a multi-faceted artist, businesswoman, and innovator; as well as a force to be reckoned with. It’s a privilege to bring this project to HBO Max and provide our viewers with unprecedented access to her life.”

Minaj and Warren will be the executive producers of the currently untitled series; alongside Cassandra Butcher, Aaron L. Gilbert and Brenda Gilbert of BRON Life. Irving Azoff, Tommy Bruce and Creative Wealth Media have also received executive producer titles.
