Nigerian Writer, Yejide Kilanko Makes 2019 Guernica Prize For Literary Fiction Longlist

Nigerian writer, Yejide Kilanko is on the 2019 Guernica Prize for Literary Fiction longlist, for her book, “Moldable Women”.

Guernica Editions is one of Canada’s most prestigious independent publishing houses, having steadily published literary fiction, non-fiction, and poetry for a whopping four decades.

The Guernica Prize recognizes the best literary fiction novel that pushes boundaries and is cutting edge. Each entry must be an unpublished novel of at least 40,000 words. The prize consists of $1,000 and a publication contract with Guernica Editions. The prize which is open to Canadian citizens and residents only, is one of Canada’s newest prize.

The longlist as announced by Guernica Editions are;
• “A Twitch In the Bones” by Renee M Sgroi.
• “At Half-Light” by Linda Walsh.
• “Drinking The Ocean” by Saad Omar Khan.
• “Giantess” by Lily Gontard.
Moldable Women by Yejide Kilanko.
• “My Dancing Days” by Mary Frances Coady.
• “One Hundred Years of Kindling” by Myrl Coulter.
• “The Golem On Kensington Market” by Jerry Levy.
• “This Cleaving and This Burning” by Andrew Wainwright.
• “Zulaikha “by Lily Soltani.

Yejide Kilanko is the author of “Daughters Who Walk This Path”, longlisted for the 2013 Etisalat Prize for Literature.

The shortlist for this prize will be announced on September 2 before the winner is revealed at a date yet to be announced.
