Olu Jacobs is battling with dementia- Joke Silva opens up

Nigerian actress, Joke Silva, says her husband and veteran actor, Olu Jacobs, is battling with dementia.

The actress stated this during a chat with Chude Jideonwo.

According to her, the actor has been dealing with the illness for years. 

The actress further stated that this is the first time she will be talking about her husband’s health in public.

She said “He is dealing with issues and it is been going on for a couple of years. It is known as dementia with lewy body.

“It is a degenerative disease that affects the brain and it is almost like a Parkinson type of disease, it affects the brain and affects the person.

“First time I’m saying this publicly… that is what we have been dealing…but the thing is, it is hard on him because he doesn’t understand what is going on and it is hard on us family members as well.”

In June 2020, rumours surfaced on the social media that Olu Jacobs had died.

However, in a statement by by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), it attributed the reports to the workings of mischief makers and industry enemies.

It read “This is to inform the general public that our legendary actor, Olu Jacobs is alive, very hale, and hearty. Disregard the malicious rumor about his death making rounds.

“The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria is in touch with the family. We use this medium to warn mischief makers and enemies of our industry to desist from this wickedness.”
