Omah Lay Talks Ugandan Arrest, Relationship With Burna Boy

Nigerian singer, Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay joined Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Channels TV’s Rubbin Minds on Sunday.

During the show, he opened up on his recent arrest in Uganda where he performed at a concert and his relationship with music star, Burna Boy.

Responding to questions and concerns by fans on why he travelled to perform in the country amid COVID-19 pandemic, the singer stated that he has no regrets and would love to go back to the country to spend time with his fans who showered love on him. He added that it was a life-changing experience for him.

“I learnt a lot from it and I have moved on. The details of Uganda is in my album, I am channeling the energy to making music. The whole experience is in my upcoming album. I felt different after the whole incident in Uganda,” he said.

On his relationship with Burna Boy he said, ” I met Burna Boy in Ghana. He is my brother and he was so happy to see me. I have always had love for him because he is the person that we listen to in Port-Harcourt. When you talk about singers in Port-Harcourt, it is Burna Boy and Duncan Mighty. So meeting him (Burna Boy) and him loving me that much is something I can’t explain.”

When asked if he feels intimidated being compared to music giants like Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido, he said: “I am Omah Lay and I am nobody else apart from that. I am not going to be anybody. I can’t sell what I don’t have. What I have is Omah Lay and that’s what I am offering.”

Born in the city of Port Harcourt, Omah Lay gained recognition in 2020 following the success of his debut single You.

His hit songs like Bad Influence, Lo Lo and Godly has stamped him as a talent to watch out for in 2021.

He was nominated in the “Next Rated” category of the Headies award set to hold this year.
