Ikechukwu Nweke, the Nollywood actor, has cried out on social media for financial assistance following his battle with colon cancer.
The actor, in a video titled, ‘My Cancer Journey,’ posted on Friday, revealed that he came down with the illness in 2025 and had initially chosen to manage the condition privately with the support of his family and some colleagues in the film industry.
He further explained that he has spent more than ₦15m on chemotherapy, radiotherapy, medical tests, scans and medications.
He noted that although he had undergone several stages of treatment, doctors had advised him to continue with another phase to improve his chances of making a full recovery.
He said, “Good morning, good afternoon and good evening from wherever you are watching me from. I was diagnosed with colon cancer last year. I have been trying so hard to manage it privately.
“I have spent a lot of money, and my family members have contributed a whole lot.”
The actor also expressed gratitude to his colleagues, including Uche Nancy, Destiny Etiko, Lizzy Gold and Ebele Okaro, for supporting him throughout the treatment.
“People close to me, like Destiny Etiko, Uche Nancy, Lizzy Gold, Ebele Okaro, among others, have also been supportive,” he added.
Nweke said the financial burden of continuing treatment had become difficult for him and his family to bear.
According to him, suspending or skipping the next stage could affect his chances of recovery.
Nweke said, “Unfortunately, my battle is not over yet. My doctors have advised that I must continue with the next phase of my treatment to give me the best chance of a full recovery.
“I cannot afford to stop or skip this stage, but the financial burden has become overwhelming.”
He consequently appealed to members of the public to support his treatment through donations, prayers and the sharing of his video.
“Today, I’m humbly asking for your help. No amount is too small. Your support, your prayers, and even sharing this video can make a real difference in my fight for life,” Nweke said.

Nweke’s outcry for help comes days after Cynthia Anijekwu, a Nollywood actress, solicited funds for her cancer battle and received N13.1 million in donations.
The fast-rising actress, in a deeply emotional video that had gone viral, broke down in tears as she opened up on her battle with the deadly sickness, calling on Nigerians for urgent support.
According to her, she was diagnosed in 2023 and underwent surgery and chemotherapy. While she initially hoped for recovery, the cancer returned more aggressively and has now spread to her bones.
Fighting back tears, she pleaded, “Please, I need to live. I need to survive. I’m asking Nigerians to please help me. Anyone that can help… Your one Naira, your two Naira can add up to something reasonable for me to take the proper treatment.”
In an update shared by actress Destiny Etiko, who had earlier posted a video of Cynthia explaining her health condition and asking for help, Destiny revealed that N13.1 million had been raised out of the N20 million needed for Cynthia’s treatment.
