Pregnant Nigerian Woman Expresses Culture Shock about how Americans React to Pregnancy

Social media influencer, Ife, has taken to social media to disclose an interesting culture shock she recently experienced in the United States of America.

According to the pioneer of the online dating forum, Diary of a Naija Girl, otherwise known as DANG, the blogger and social media influencer mentioned that she was stunned when she discovered how Americans react when they meet a pregnant woman. Unlike her home country of Nigeria, where pregnancy is treated with immense secrecy and discretion, Ife stated that Americans have a culture of expressing joy and asking questions about the gender of the unborn child.

In addition, the social media influencer stated that she experienced another form of culture shock when people touched her baby bumps. She went on to state that instead of expressing worry about the well-being of the child, Americans instead congratulate the mother.

“As a Nigerian, you’re still in shock, and they ask, ‘Is it a boy or a girl?’ Ah, did my village people send you? We don’t do that in Africa o. God abeg,” she wrote.
